Με πρωτοβουλία Ε/κ και Τ/κ οργανώσεων και ακτιβιστών διοργανώνεται για δεύτερη χρονιά εκδήλωση στο βορρά και στο νότο στη μνήμη των αθώων θυμάτων από τον πόλεμο του 1974.

Η εκδήλωση θα γίνει το Σάββατο στις 24 Ιούλη, ώρα 9.30πμ όπου από το Λήδρα Πάλας θα πάμε στο χωριό Μάραθα (Μουράταγα) με λεωφορείο για κατάθεση στεφάνων στο μνημείο των τ/κ θυμάτων. Μετά γύρω στις 11:30-12.00 μαζί με τους Τουρκοκύπριους θα πάμε στην Αγλαντζιά για να καταθέσουμε στεφάνια στο κοιμητήριο Αγ. Κωνσταντίνου και Ελένης.

Kuzeyde ve güneyde Kıbrıslı Türk ve Rum örgütlerinin ve aktivistlerinin girişimi ile ikinci yılında 1974 savaşında öldürülen masum insanlar için ortak anma etkinliği düzenleniyor.

Etkinlik 24 Temmuz, Cumartesi günü saat 9:30'da başlayacak. Ledra Palace'dan Muratağa köyüne gidilerek masum Kıbrıslı Türkler için bir buket çiçek bırakılacak. Daha sonra 11:30 civarında Kıbrıslı Türkler ve Kıbrıslı Rumlar birlikte Eğlence'deki Saints Konstantinos and Heleni Mezarlığını benzer bir etkinlik için ziyaret edecekler.

With the initiative taken by G/C and T/C organizations and activists there will be organized for a second year a joint memorial in the north and in the south in the memory of innocent victims killed at the 1974 war.

The event will take place on Saturday on 24 July, 9.30am. From Ledra Palace checkpoint we will go to Murataga village to lay wreath to the monument of the innocent T/C victims. Afterwards at around 11:30am-12.00 together with the T/Cs we will visit the cemetery of Saints Konstantinos and Heleni in the Aglantzja for a similar ceremony.

Η Δικοινοτική Πρωτοβουλία ενάντια στον Εθνικισμό και τον Πόλεμο για άλλη μια φορά αντιμετωπίζει την άρνηση των τουρκοκυπριακών αρχών για να οργανώσει δικοινοτικές εκδηλώσεις. Αυτή τη φορά αρνήθηκαν να παραχωρήσουν άδεια για την κοινή εκδήλωση/μνημόσυνο στη Μουράταγα (Μάραθα) στους τάφους των αθώων Τουρκοκυπρίων που δολοφονήθηκαν το 1974. Παρεμποδίζει μ' αυτο τον τρόπο το ένα μέρος της δικοινοτικής εκδήλωσης που έχει σαν στόχο να τιμήσει τα αθώα θύματα και στις δυο πλευρές.

Οι δικαιολογίες που επικαλέστηκαν με επίσημη επιστολή που έστειλαν στη Νεολαία του ΥΒΗ που συμμετέχει στην Πρωτοβουλία είναι

α) Μόνο πολίτες της ΤΔΒΚ μπορούν να συμμετέχουν σε διαδηλώσεις ή άλλες εκδηλώσεις στο βορρά όχι όμως και οι Ελληνοκύπριοι που θεωρούνται αλλοδαποί

β) Η εκδήλωση μπορεί προκαλέσει την αντίδραση των εθνικιστών.

Δεν μπορούμε να δεχτούμε ότι ο κύριος Ταλάτ που εκλέχθηκε με σύνθημα ενάντια στο στάτους κβο, για ειρήνη και συμβίωση, αντιμετωπίζει τους Ε/κ σαν αλλοδαπούς στην Κύπρο και επικαλείται τις αντιδράσεις μιας μικρής μειοψηφίας εθνικιστών - που έτσι κι αλλιώς ήταν πάντοτε και θα είναι ενάντια στην συμφιλίωση και την ειρηνική συνύπαρξη - για να ματαιώσει μια συμβολική εκδήλωση επαναπροσέγγισης.

Ζητούμε από τις τουρκοκυπριακές αρχές να αναθεωρήσουν την απόφασή τους και να επιτρέψουν στους Ε/κ και Τ/κ να τιμήσουν μαζί τη μνήμη των αδικοσκοτωμένων θυμάτων και των δύο πλευρών.

Εμείς έτσι κι αλλιώς το Σάββατο 24 Ιούλη ώρα 9.30 το πρωί θα συναντηθούμε στη νεκρή ζώνη πριν το τ/κ σημείο ελέγχου στο Λήδρα Πάλας και θα προσπαθήσουμε να πραγματοποιήσουμε την εκδήλωση όπως προγραμματίστηκε.

The Turkish Cypriot Authorities have once more refused to allow Bi-communal Initiative against Nationalism and War to organize a joint bi-communal activity. This time they denied granting authorization to hold a commemorative ceremony at Murataga (Maratha) by the mass grave of the innocent Turkish Cypriots who were murdered in 1974. By this way they impede us to hold one part of this joint event that aims to honour the innocent victims in both sides.

In an official letter sent to YBH Youth which participates in the Bi-Communal Initiative they invoked the following:

a) Only citizens of TRNC can participate in demonstrations or in any other activities in the north but no Greek Cypriots however who are considered as aliens.

b) Fear that the planned commemorative ceremony in the north may provoke the reaction of nationalists.

We cannot accept that Mr Talat who was elected under the anti-status quo banner, under the slogan for peace and living together, considers now Greek Cypriots as foreigners and uses possibly the reaction of a tiny minority of nationalists - who are always against reconciliation and peaceful coexistence - as an excuse in order to cancel a symbolic rapprochement event.

We ask from the Turkish Cypriot Authorities to revise their decision and allow the Greek and Turkish Cypriots together to honour the memory of the undeservedly killed victims in both sides.

In either way we are going to meet on Saturday 24 July, 9.30am, at the buffer zone just before the Turkish Cypriot checkpoint at Ledra Palace and we shall try to go through the joint event as it was planned.
